this is actually a truck, supposedly kinda rare, according to it's owner, hank. been a while since i took it, but he came over while i was taking my shots and started telling me all about it. if i remember right, he has a few cars he rotates through this show, though i've never seen this one before or since.

he only stopped telling me all about it when the show organizers interrupted to get him to move the truck, as they were running out of spaces. which is why you don't get to see something showing that it's really a truck. got other cars parked up next to it, and i lost the shot. oh well.

and hank also said he didn't even own a computer, so he won't be seeing it unless someone can show him, or i print him something to see. maybe i'll break down and ask my better half if i can borrow the ipad he bought for me, but i didn't want...a story he enjoys telling repeatedly, and it gets more colorful with each telling, so i can show hank if i see him again.

supposed to rain until the end of the week. i love it. but it sucks...no pictures to take.

anyway, here's a shot of reine's caddy from my first visit to the broiler last year. he's been supportive and encouraging with my work since that first day. so i just wanted to thank him and wish him merry xmas, since i doubt i'll see this caddy again before next year.

another i usually walk by. too modern for my taste. but this one was in the right place at the right time...sunset, the reflections, framed by the fuddrucker's signs...i don't know. i just liked it at the moment. sometimes, you just gotta give in to it.

ramble on

so i think this rambler belongs to a guy who was at the broiler a couple of weeks ago. he mentioned he had a rambler, but didn't have it with him. at this point i can't remember the color he said. i only have pictures of three of them, and this is the only one from bob's.

actually, i'm glad he asked. forced me to look back through some old stuff, that i would have forgotten about. but really, since its cold and getting ready to rain, and my better half is out at a department xmas party, what else was i going to do, really. i don't think it turned out too bad.

he also mentioned another car show off the 10 near the in-n-out on thursday nights. i'd give it a look, but it's a little too far out of my way with traffic. can't get to them all, but fortunate to live where i have plenty of others to choose from, all year round.

i really liked the way the neon was reflecting on this car. and hey, i got both the scary burger boy and the drive thru sign in the same shot. can anyone tell me the year, please? just so i can call it like it is. thanks!

bittersweet

supposedly my mother-in-law drove a car just like this one, when my better half was a kid. that's what he tells me. i don't think she has any pictures of it. what a bummer they didn't keep it.

anyway, here was one at the broiler a couple of weeks ago. beautiful car, straight up chevy.

green lantern

i always see this beauty at the fuddrucker's show. it's usually jammed in close to other cars, or there are too many people around it.

lucky for me, i had an earlier dentist appointment, which left me feeling like i'd been hit by a 2x4, i didn't have to go back to the office. i'd rested for a couple of hours, then realized there was still an hour of sun left in the day, and got off my butt and out the door. and i was starving, having skipped lunch for the two hours of fun at the dentist.

thus i arrived early for the show. lots of empty spaces still, waiting for guys to escape from work. the sun was just beginning to set when i got to this one. i took several angles of it, but i liked this one best.

embroiled

couldn't resist one more post of one of my favorite locations for shooting cars. a harvey's in a past life, this is the infamous bob's big boy broiler in downey.

flames burn, but it's still dark

ok, this post is a gimme. the owner wanted to see it. only shot i have of it.

they had it parked in the dark, under a broken or burned-out light. this shot is getting hit from behind and from the headlights of an oncoming car.

there is an interesting little scene airbrushed on both sides, if i remember correctly, of a little cabin or house, with two or three old chevys (?) parked out front. again, it was too dark to take a close up shot of that to show you here, and a bit out of focus.

can't let my better half get all the glory on his page. here's one of my shots of a sultan's car.

hadn't seen this one since last march in lakewood. back when i was just getting started and took the majority of shots from low angles, as shown here. i think it needed to be redone at a higher angle, to get a better view of the flames on the car.

still very clean, and the paint really reflects the lights from various sources in interesting patterns. glad i got the opportunity to shoot it at a different time of day.
