what's up?

and the skies opened

yo, gary! here's your car!

i met gary several years ago, when i was first out shooting cars. he had a bel air back then. i think he said he still has it, but now i only see him once a year, maybe, and at the last couple shows, he's been putting around in this emerald ford. it's a jewel. but it ain't a chevy.

took a few shots of it here, at the chino corn feed run, not long before the rain started. ya, gary, i think someone up there was targeting your car.

the other shots were so similar to what i shot at another show, that you might think i masked it out and dropped it on this street.

i like the distortion of this shot; the car just seems more threatened by whatever that wormhole in the clouds might be.

one more day in sd. classes all day today, followed by a few hours at petco park. my friend was unable to join me, but i have no problem watching baseball in a stadium on my own. i like to sit way up at the top, as close to behind home plate as possible. just more fun up there, and climbing all those stairs is just good for buns and thighs, right?

vibrant

this is from last week's show in norco. almost as soon as i walked into the show area of the lot, i heard, "kathy!" for all i know, they're calling to someone else, cuz they usually are, but not this time.

it was an old acquaintance, my buddy, gary. hadn't seen him at a show for a couple of years. and you know with old guys...you start to wonder...

last time i saw him, was at the riverside show-n-go. he'd had his chevy there the first night, but not the next day. his friends told me his starter had stopped. on the car, that is.

and then i didn't see the car or him there last year. really at any show in riverside last year.

but here he was in norco. with a new car. no wonder.

said he still has the chevy, but now has to decide which one to take out.

so of course, i had to take a picture of his new baby. so hey, gary. what's with the bright, bright colors on your cars?

and what the h...this is like my third or fouth post in a row with a turquisey color vehicle.

another from the legends show. my memory is already getting fuzzy, and i forgot to make notes on my phone, but i think this one belonged to the guy who said he was also from whittier.

i looked through my photos, and i was right, i've seen it before. i took a picture of it at a viejitos show in july. and if i looked further, i bet i'd find a few others, but probably more likely, of the hood ornament.

he did specifically ask me if i'd taken a shot of it. truth be told, i was going to pass it by. but since he asked, i hope he sees it here and thinks it's ok.

i've seen this car before, and usually pass it by, because the hood is open, but mostly because of that stupid wooden billy gun. if this is the same one i remember from another show, the owner once practically begged me to come take a picture of his car, but when he went and got the gun out i could only just keep from laughing out loud, and shook my head no. could be a totally different car and owner, but i don't see too many prop guns like this one. no wait, there's that pt cruiser that has that silly stuff on it...never shoot that one either.

i was going to skip it again this time, but decided it didn't look so silly from the back, parked off by itself in the shade. still has that pea shooter sitting there, but i can ignore it just this once. had the hood up, i think, so this was the only POV i was ever going to take of it anyway. nice car. dump the prop gun...it's stupid. or else put some bullet holes in the side. want me to do that in photoshop for ya?

second time at this show. brought my bro and his family, who are visiting from the east coast for a few days. kinda disappointed in the turnout, but made up for it this morning by taking them to the show at enderle, which was much busier and had more variety.
