what's up?

doña rosa

two hour drive home. wanted to go to frisco's, but i see they already got shut down on that one. damn. briefly considered heading to whittier blvd, or, just going uptown and waiting to see if anyone drives by the theatre.

nah, might to the whittier community car show in the morning, and i gotta get some sleep. not seeing any other show going on at the same time, or i'd probably go somewhere else for a change. also think i have to work all weekend to meet an arbitrary deadline, on a job that has been repeatedly pushed aside.

another car from last month at pomona. nice car, not overdone. almost thought it was a merc, but the chrome is all ford. nice chop job.

mooneyes

busy weekend. mooneyes saturday; imperials show sunday. all i can say is, wow. more than enough cars to get my yayas out. i'm sooo tired...too much sun, i guess. after a week of cooler temps, the weekend had to heat up, which seems to be the one thing that forces me to leave early--from the house, and later from the show. sucks.

people have told me i need to go to mooneyes. i think they mean the xmas show, but open house gave a good idea of what shows up at xmas. might have to make the trip this year, wherever it might end up...didn't they close irwindale speedway?

anyway, made my way down one side of the street, through several small parking lots of cars and people, crossed the street and back up toward mooneyes, itself. always a challenge shooting in crowds, and next to a busy street, with traffic in the background. depends on my attitude that day whether i give a shit if there are people milling around a car, or a blur of traffic in the background--either can be fine, especially if no fucks are given about what's going on...focus on the car. ahem, i ramble...

i am a fan of pinstripes. sometimes shoot a car just for the pinstriping, even when the hood is up ;) saw this car near the street, but more away from the main crowd. not so many people in the way. interesting colors and liked the flames. owner came over and introduced himself. i think he said he was a student at cerritos college, and that he'd done the paint and pinstriping himself. nice job!

got some ’splainin to do lucy

"lucy"

i took this picture a while back at the show in dove canyon. the lady running the show told me they named the car "lucy." i didn't ask the owner at the time why or who it was named after, and now i suppose i won't find out...apparently they've canceled all the rest of the shows for the summer, perhaps it's permanent, i don't know. too bad really. small show, nice cars, convenient location. guess they'll go on to other shows nearby. heard san clemente has started a show, and that's probably what killed this one. maybe i'll check it out.

as i've said before, i've been sooooo busy lately. lots of work. my kid's baseball games. stayed too late at the broiler in downey tonight – up past my bedtime again. makes it more difficult to find time to work on a picture to post.

i took a lot of pictures tonight, with several requests for possibly buying prints. you'll have to be patient, they take time, and i'm probably driving up to san luis obispo this weekend for baseball games, so even less time again.
