solvangian dream

whilst on a lost weekend in solvang several months ago, i was on the hunt for an old ford i'd seen tooling around the town. had even gone all the way back to the hotel to fetch my gear, and headed off to the main drag and public parking lots, hoping to find it somewhere. 

usually, it's quite busy on the weekend, and parking spaces are full. most any day of the week, one can find this here chevy. it's owned by one of the shop keepers. i was told by one of the employees watching from the store's doorway, that he also has another old car, and that she did as well...told her to tell him to bring his out, as well as hers the next day. (they didn't — i checked)

i've passed it by often over the years, but never had the interest prior to a couple of years ago, nor a good opportunity to shoot it. being that it was a rainy weekend, and fairly windy and chilly, here it was sitting with an empty space next to it, not many cars on the street. booyah! i took a couple of shots from the front, and from out in the street behind it. i liked this view best.

never did find the ford. must have been out just for a cruise.

quick post. busy times at work and at home. i'm so tired.

here's another truck. another in a matte finish. or is it primer? anyway, they're a bit different than the standard spit shine trucks, so i'll shoot'em. and the clouds don't hurt neither. not sure if this one belongs to the inland empire dukes club, or just happened to be parked near them.

hoping to hit a few shows this weekend, at least by sunday. supposed to rain tomorrow. and i'm planning on doing nothing but jump on my trampoline after work, then going to sleep early.

blue velvet

can you not see why rainy days make for the bestest images? look at that sky. and that the sun is muted like a big soft box, killing off harsh reflections.

i take pictures of the cars as i find them, but there are times like this, i wish i could move some of that background crap out of the way...it's cluttering up a perfectly fine car picture.

the sky’s the limit

another late night, spent pondering a graphic i have to do tomorrow at work. thought i could come up with an idea while shooting a car show...you know, when your best ideas appear when you aren't even thinking about them. no luck. guess i'll sleep on it.

well there wasn't much out at cypress today, but not disappointed that i left work on time; i needed the break. actually, the few local shows i've been to have been pretty sparse. is it the price of gas, or is everyone just selling off their cars?

getting back to this picture...another from henderson lincoln. didn't realize the clouds looked so awesome at the time. i was just trying to get the front of the car and the reflections in the hood. this thing was so shiny. interesting hood ornament thingy too. i'll have to post the close up another time. i'm running on fumes right now, so best get meself to bed.

no fear of flying

here's another car from the fremont elementary school show. back on the playground and in the grass, i think i kinda like it being on a different surface for a change. i do wish there wasn't a car next to it, particularly one with the hood open. but i do like the reflection of the car you don't see in the fender, if you can just ignore that pesky photographer there as well.

that's the owner there, with the thick gold chain. seemed like a nice guy. his wife is sitting in the car, but she kept her head down the whole time. maybe she was reading a book. nice of her to go to the show with her man anyway.

and don't forget my favorite...a hood ornament. this one is called a flying lady.
